More about the Farr Design 39 Ft One Tonner

1987 40ft Bruce Farr designed One Tonner 'JAMARELLA', built by Kilian Bush in Carbon/Nomex/Kevlar/Epoxy.

Member of the UK AC team in 1987 (later RUSH, Hitchhiker III and ACE) 1997 Dutch IMS Champion as ACE (Re-rigged with new throat) In the 1987 Fastnet race, the New Zealand team needed to defend a 109-point lead, but Propaganda (Farr design nr 182) and the UK AC Jamarella (Farr design 184) rarely lost sight of each other. They traded tacks, gybes, and sail changes for more than 600 miles, with Jamarella finishing third to edge out Propaganda in fourth. This was enough to allow Propaganda to finish as the top yacht overall comfortably.

She is now an old, fast girl. This is an opportunity for enthusiast sailors aspiring to switch to offshore or inshore racing. Or participate in the Classic Admirals Cup One Ton class.

A furling was added in 2019 to make the boat more practical for smaller crews. The engine was replaced by a refurbished Volvo Penta MD 2040 with a folding prop (2018). Three hatches were installed for more light in the bow, the cabin, and aft (also as an escape hatch aft). The rod-rigging was replaced in 2022. The deck was repainted this summer.

Many older North sails (from her IMS period when becoming IMS Champion in 1997 in Holland) are available, some second-hand jibs, and a smaller main sail for cruising. The original race instruments are now outdated...
